Country n’ Eastern music

One of the reasons I am thankful for the Internet is being able to access radio programs from all over the world. I regularly ‘tune-in’ to the BBC’s Scottish Gaelic, ‘Radio nan Gàidheal‘ & the more musically oriented Scottish Internet Radio. And now that we’re living a ‘way out here’ in western Canada’, a long, long way from the maritimes we miss one CBC program in particular!

Here in northern Saskatchewan, & probably the whole of ‘the west’ most musical programming is country & western. And while I do like some of it I much prefer good old maritime music, Celtic sounds & good old Rock n’ Roll!! The show we really miss is CBC’s ‘Weekend Mornings‘ from Halifax, NS with Stan, Bob & Duke, “The Studio Stallion is a 5½ hours of electric, eclectic entertainment & music & friendly maritime banter… a real cèilidh on radio so to speak. Country an’ eastern music. :D

But in order to to listen to this show via the Internet we have to get up incredibly early on Saturday or Sunday mornings! And that’s exactly the time Pam & I have been trying wake up since moving. Saskatchewan has a 3 hour time difference with maritimes. The show starts at 6am in Halifax, NS & therefore would start at 3am here. {could be worse, we be living in BC}

Well since arriving here 3 months ago ( mo Dhia! has it been long?) we’ve been averaging waking up, at best, around 4:30am or so but no later than 5am. Until this past weekend that is as Saturday & yesterday we were finally able to pry ourselves out of my bed around 3:15am, & get the computer booted up, connect to CBC Halifax & we listened to those sounds of home.. & then put the coffee on. Still enjoying our adventures out here but due miss hearing those tuneful sounds from home & getting up incredibly early, much, much earlier than the crows, or in our case the ravens, is most definitely well worth the effort. :)

If you haven’t listened to this show I highly recommend tuning in …

Uill, gun tèid e gu math dhomh an-duigh
Well, wish me luck for tomorrow …
