Tha mi an seo! ~ I’m here!

Tha mi an seo! Tha mi an seo!
Tha seirm a’ leig le clag agus tha itealaich a’ leig le bratachain.
Tha mi glè mhath aithne fìor ach tha mise an-seo!

I’m here! I’m here!
Let the bells ring out and the banners fly.
I know it is too good to be true, but I’m here.

Uill ~ Well
It’s been almost a couple of weeks since I last posted anything so I best stop nattering on & get to it, eh? …

Been quite busy this past while working madly in the studio finishing the 3 fish carving piece, rocks, & pebbles are now painted, 1 fish and the grasses left to finish. The last fish only needs a few dozen more light washes to be completed … a couple of days or so. Also, insanely transferring data to & setting up my new laptop. Well new to me…. anyway.

This is definitely a project that can drive an unstable man crazy … trying to decide which data to move; which data that is used occasionally & which data is important! And whether to store it to archives or to the trash???
You can get to feel like a Civil Servant at a the elevators when 2 doors open… Decisions? Decisions? Decisions? Known many a Civil Servant to take a years stress leave for less… :D

Besides the blocking out of a jumping Cutthroat trout, approx. 14″ in length I’m in the middle of carving 3 fish-hook style bone pieces. An eagle, an art nouveau-like design & an American Pelican. Have also designed & made patterns for 9 other pieces 2 of which I’m attempting to do in smaller earring pieces. A first time for me … my other earrings have been made with exotic woods & clays. I am sketching out ideas for ravens, wolves, bear & other local creature based ideas shaped to be the hook-style as well.

It seem that the only way I’m able to keep my production moving quickly is to vary the type of physical action by switching projects. The physical strength requirements needed to paint are, oddly enough, harder on me than the carving … in part by the fact that I’m using power carving tools but mainly because holding a brush needs a tense, steady grip. Fortunately the carving action is sporadic & relaxed so even hand-carving is a rest after a painting session … go figure? But who cares, eh? It’s creating that counts in end!:D

Pam & I are hoping to hit the dusty trails today to get some northern fall photos ~ if the sun does come out as predicted by the ‘weather prophets’. Right now the overcast skies are not conducive to good photographic
lighting. The greens, yellows & light yellows of the trees tend to blend together if there isn’t enough constrast!

Pam’s got a busy week coming up at a course in PA {Prince Albert} & will be away for 3 days. The fur-kids & I will have to fend for ourselves eating junk food & frozen TV dog dinners. :) Tasty but the freezing takes the crunch
out of the kibble when it’s nuked in the microwave!

Uill, gun tèid e gu math dhomh an-duigh
Well, wish me luck for today …

  1. Hi Regi & Pam,
Great to hear from you guys. Sounds like quite an experience for you. Very courageous of you both to be willing to move (at your advanced age, ha ha) to a new place and plunge into life.
We are busy as usual with great stuff to work on…presantly building a bake oven at Roma.
    Love to you both

  2. No sweat! You know us how old fogies are … always looking for adventures. Some go to India … some to Saskatchewan.

Being staid & content is for the young! :) Right?

    Gabh cùram
    take care

  3. Just found your site posted on the wordpress site and we’ve got the same blog theme and we’re both using a Gaelic language :-)

    Beir bua agus ádh mór!

  4. Richard ~ Failte !

B’ fheàrr Gàidhlig no Gaeilige briste na Beurla cliste. Nach eil.
Better broken Gaelic than polished English. Is it not?

Although in my case it’s busted when compared to your abilities. :) God to meet you … BTW I’ve added your blog to my blogroll.
