Tha nollaig beag ~ A little Christmas

Our first winter in northern Saskatchewan is proving to be an interesting adventure to say the least but Christmas in La Ronge, SK 2006 was entirely uneventful & quiet. Not an unusual peep out of anyone … well except Molly! Once the Christmas Stockings are taken out & hung by the tree she starts getting excited. Actually as soon she hears the bells on her stocking ring she begins to get visions of ripping open her presents.

Christmas 2006

As you can see by this photo Molly’s not too impressed with her Christmas hat.

The Rapberry

I think it’s called a RASPBERRY!

Here’s our Christmas nook … while the Christmas tree is not a Douglas Fir it’s provides us with every bit of the seasonal ambiance that a floor to ceiling tree would.

Our little 2006 Christmas

Christmas eve we were invited to a friend’s home for Christmas dinner with his family. A wonderful evening. Our own Christmas dinner went unusually smooth for such a great feast … only had to rush through the Avocado / Crab salad as the turkey cooked much faster than anticipated. Sorry no photo of this delicious bird. I tend to carve a bird up very fast to prepare for those most enjoyable turkey leftovers … sandwiches, hot turkey sandwiches with a nice mushroom gravy, & the house favourite turkey soup. And with the size of this year’s turkey there’ll be soup for a long, long time.

Temperature is how hovering at -24°C {-11.2°F} going up to -17°C {-1.4°F} by late morning, early afternoon. Not much of a wind to speak of & there hasn’t been any snow falling for a week so streets are clear but long walks at this temperature can prove an uncomfortable experience. So think I’ll just beg for a ride…

Chtistmas 2006

Good thing the town has done the snow clearing … wonder if my complaints to the local adlerman made some differences? Hopefully it wasn’t & it’s just the normal cleanup procedure by a town that cares for it’s citizens. :)

At any rate a beautiful day for photos. Albeit a short photo shooting session as the cold tends to kill the batteries fast.

Well, wish me luck for today …
