Pool table deliveries madness & luxuries

“The only difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to be credible.    – Mark Twain”

Wow … it’s here!! What a week of hair-pulling. On Tuesday I got a call from the trucking company saying my pool table was on the truck & ready for delivery. The problem was the driver was at a loss on how to get the table off?? Well of course, my first question was to ask how in the hell they got this 1000 lb package on & use that same method for getting it off.  The table was ordered with the shipping to be delivered on a truck with a tailgate lift.  The extra shipping charges were supposed to cover that …  but as Robert Burns put it, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”  Anyway I refused to have anyone of the folks I know handle that much weight off of a the back of truck bed 4½ feet from the ground. Especially when it’s the responsibility of company! Anyway, a quick call to QBilliards & a couple of really great guys got it straightened out so I now have my fantastic pool table. Now to get my stair lift installed so that I can get downstairs & start playing pool as well as setting up my shop.

I can say enough for the help & service that QBilliards http://www.qbilliards.com/tables.html  I got the King in a dark walnut with a burgundy coloured felt. I highly recommend this company & having great friends too. When it’s finally up & ready I’ll post some photos … of course.

Another great thing about getting the pool table was the way it was packed. It came in a completely wooden crate made of a white oak & a 3/8ths thick mohogany plywood. Can wait to start creating stuff with it …

Since these photos were taken I have been able to take the crate apart. Now it just needs to be sitting in my shop awaiting the many woodworking projects I have dreamed of since arriving here in LA. The shop is of course, downstairs so I wait, wait & wait!
